November 4 , 2009 - ALERT Newport News Police Department has notified the University Police Department of a potential threat to the University community. The City Police have received information that two dark skinned black males approached a female near the University campus. These males, both of slight build and approximately 5-8 to 6-0 in height, made a threat to rob a white female. One subject was observed wearing blue jeans and a blue shirt. The other subject was observed wearing blue jeans, a red shirt and a red and black hat. No weapon was display and the threat did not indicate that a weapon would be used. Although this threat is non-specific and does not indicate a specific place or time of the robbery, all residents are encouraged to walk in groups or request a police escort. |
